West Region Senior Business Development Director at SPEE3D 

SPEE3D, a manufacturer of cold spray additive manufacturing systems, is seeking a new Senior Business Development Director. The successful candidate will lead a team in engaging with business partners and generating new business for the firm in the Western Region of the USA. They will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities in sectors such as aerospace, defense, contract manufacturing, oil & gas, and manufacturing tooling.

Candidates will need a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, over six years of 3D printing experience (preferably in sales), and must live in the West Region of the US.

Product Owner at Spare Parts 3D

Spare Parts 3D, an additive manufacturing software developer, is looking for a new Product Owner to help develop its DigiPart engineering software. The platform was launched as a SaaS in September 2021 and Spare Parts 3D is now building a structured product team to accelerate its development. The Product Owner will be responsible for specifying client requirements for new features, translating these requirements into specifications, and manage all aspects of the agile product development workflow.

Candidates will need a Master’s degree, excellent analytical skills, verbal and written communication skills in both English and French, and experience with agile and scrum software development methodologies.

Renishaw to take on record number of new hires in 2022

Engineering firm Renishaw has opened a record number of applications for its 2022 intake. Looking at the figures, the company will take on 96 graduates and 80 apprentices across its Gloucestershire and South Wales sites, as well as over 100 placement students over the course of the year. This includes both industrial and summer placements.

Renishaw operates a total of twelve graduate schemes ranging from software engineering and manufacturing to commercial disciplines. The company’s apprenticeship scheme is designed to enable apprentices to gain qualifications up to degree level, as well as on-the-job experience.

“Apprentices and graduates futureproof the workforce, which is why we have invested so heavily in our early careers programmes since 1979,” explained Julia Russell, Apprentice Lead at Renishaw. “The early careers cohort is heavily involved in projects from the outset, and they always bring innovative and fresh ideas to the team, helping our company to adapt in a rapidly changing industry.”

Relativity Space hires Scott Van Vliet as Senior VP of Software Engineering

Relativity Space, a US manufacturer of 3D printed rockets, has hired Scott Van Vliet as its new Senior VP of Software Engineering. In his new LA-based role, Van Vliet will lead the company’s growing 150+ software engineering team and oversee the development of the AI-powered Factory Operating System. The software is set to be used to automate and streamline Relativity’s rocket-building operations.

Before Relativity Space, Van Vliet was a corporate VP at Microsoft, where he led the development of the Microsoft Teams platform. He has also previously played a major part in developing Amazon’s Alexa platform and Echo devices.

MxD announces Laura Élan as Director of MxD Cyber

MxD, the US cybersecurity research and digital manufacturing innovation center, has announced Laura Élan as the new Sr. Director of MxD Cyber. Her role will involve leading the organization with its full range cybersecurity projects and initiatives in order to support the annual Strategic Investment Plan. Élan will also manage MxD’s Cybersecurity Steering Committee.

Laura Élan holds a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois – Urbana, as well as an Ms in Electric Engineering and Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology. Prior to joining MxD, she served at Baxter Healthcare where she was responsible for the regulatory strategy for medical software, cybersecurity, interoperability, and AI software.

“We are thrilled to have Laura join our team and lead our growing portfolio of cyber initiatives,” said Chandra Brown, CEO of MxD. “MxD Cyber is accelerating the security of the manufacturing supply chain at a pivotal moment – taking advantage of heightened awareness of where our goods are produced and transported as well as the increased prominence of ransomware attacks on business of all sizes. Stratasys promotes Eitan Zamir to CFO

Leading 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys has announced the promotion of Eitan Zamir to Chief Financial Officer. He currently serves as the firm’s VP of Finance, and is set to succeed Lilach Payorski come February 2022. Payorski will be stepping down from her role after nine years at the company.

During his time at Stratasys, Zamir has been a key player when it comes to financial leadership of the firm’s global operations. He currently oversees all external financial reporting, accounting, tax, treasury, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Before joining Stratasys in 2019, Zamir was a Partner at PwC.

Dr. Yoav Zeif, CEO of Stratasys, said, “Eitan is a strong leader who brings nearly 20 years of proven financial expertise as a PwC partner and senior finance executive to the role of chief financial officer. Since joining Stratasys as Lilach’s deputy, Eitan quickly distinguished himself as a trusted and integral partner to the leadership team with his global experience and value-enhancing insights.”

Markforged to move headquarters to Waltham, Massachusetts

Markforged, a manufacturer of metal and composite 3D printers, is moving its headquarters to Waltham, Massachusetts. The company currently operates out of two different facilities in Watertown. With the relocation set to take place by Q3 2022, Markforged will reportedly have enough space for over 500 employees, all while consolidating its facilities under one roof for more streamlined day-to-day operations.

“I am very proud of our team’s successes over the last year and the momentum that we’re building,” said Shai Terem, President and CEO of Markforged. “We continue to grow and accelerate our product roadmap, and are seeing demand for our newest products, like the FX20. Our rapidly growing team has nearly doubled in 2021, and this headquarters relocation is a natural next step that will enable us to create a state-of-the-art space for our employees, our partners, and our customers to experience what Markforged is all about.”
